It’s Our Sew Red Day!

It’s finally here … Our Sew Red Day!
This story started about a year ago when we were forwarded an email from our boss at Moda, from someone named Laura Zander.

I have to admit, that at the time I had no idea who Laura Zander was OR what Jimmy Beans Wool was either. So I did a little research and then quickly replied YES! to the email. In fact I think I even added a “please” in there somewhere and a “whatever you want”!

So the story continues and emails go back and forth and things have to be kept secret for awhile. This secret part is a huge problem for me, but I somehow manage. Designing goes on and pattern pages are written and every once in awhile we hear from someone on Laura’s staff that they need another this or another that. Updates inform us that the book is moving along.

Then one day this fantastic book magically appears in the mail!

We couldn’t be more proud to be included in this wonderful project and to be associated with these other designers for the cause. I have to admit that the thought of sharing credits with Ty Pennington also gave me a little jolt of delight!

But the cause is women’s heart disease. I could spout statistics and numbers, but just think about it, we all know someone that has either been affected by or is currently battling this dreaded disease.

It’s an easy to make bag that’s not too big or too small … but just right!

All the proceeds from the book go directly to and bringing awareness to women’s heart disease.

    Perfect size! I may need something just like that to tote around my new healthy food snacks and water. I have started a healthier eating style, and am feeling great. Hoping to lower cholesterol, lose weight, and just get all-around ‘good’ inside! So far, I am pleased with the changes and results.

    What a cute bag..Love the simplicity. I walk about a mile and a half a day, rain or shine. It feels good to get out and clear the brain. Love RED!

    We eat a lot of fiber and veggies, and watch the fats, especially since my best friend has been diagnosed with afib and has to take 3-4 pills daily. Thank you for the giveaway.

    I try to stay away from preservatives when I eat. Don’t know if that is necessarily heart healthy. If sewing with red helped, I’d be very healthy indeed, as it’s my favorite color!

    hmmmm, my heart healthy? I have to get up from my machine to iron. since I sew a lot, I am up and down all the time. I get my exercise!

    I actually belong to Club Red where I work at the University of Virginia and I make sure I get a physical every year and exercise daily!

    One of my goals is to read the entire Bible chapter by chapter this year. I have my coffee as I read first thing in the morning, then I go for my 41/2 mile walk. I dwell on what I’ve read and do my praying for my family and the neighborhood families. The rest of the day is focused on quilting or knitting.

    I try to walk at least 20 minutes every other day. The more I sit and quilt the more I need to walk to balance out the two activities. I always remind myself that the more I walk the more I get to quilt.

    I walk 2 miles 2 times a week. I’m hoping to increase that to 5 days a week by the end of the month. . . I just started this but at least I’m starting. . . too much quilting!

    Now that both kids are off at college we have dropped our red meat consumption down to just one meal a week. We try to walk regularly but the Wisconsin winter has kept us from walking a few times.

    Am up at 5. Running & walking on my treadmill before I go to work. Try to eat as healthy as possible but just can’t stay away from chocolate.
