Moda Market Roll Call!

Welcome to the twice yearly Moda Booth Roll Call!

This time we were in beautiful Portland, Oregon. What a great city! I think Portland-ians are some of the friendliest people around. Besides having lots of fun, we did have some work to do.

Lets start at the Me and My Sister Designs booth …

Oops! Once again no picture of the sisters in their booth. I really have to remember to have someone take a photo of us next time.

Second stop …

Laurie Simpson and Polly Minick. These great designers are also a sister team. We loved being their neighbors in the new Designer Studio booth. These lucky ladies just returned home from a teaching trip in France. Tough duty!

Then Bunny Hill and Anne Sutton …

We were lucky enough to have some fun dining adventures with Anne! We’ll have to tell you about the Mexican restaurant that shared a bathroom with a strip club sometime.

Next is Sweetwater …

Mary and I call them the “sweeties” cause that’s what they are. Last time I only caught a photo of 1 sweetie in the booth. This time I was lucky enough to catch 2. They’re pretty slippery when it comes to picture taking time.

Still along the wall and the next stop is American Jane AKA Sandy Klop …

She is always entertaining and fun to be around. You will never find a nicer person. She had this thing about chickens this time??

On the corner Vanessa Christenson and V and Co …

She is the one of the newest designers and is one of the few people I know that could wear a skirt like that and look great.

Next our friend Edyta and Laundry Basket Quilts …

She could probably get away with wearing Vanessa’s skirt too. Just a fun and entertaining person to be around. Her quilts are so beautiful!

Then Sandy Gervais and Pieces From My Heart …

Sandy is one of the originals that started the Moda design team and she always has the best shoes. I absolutely love that quilt on her right. Actually, I love both of them!

Next Lisa and Primitive Gatherings …

I had to apologize to Lisa because I accidentally left her off the roll call last time. I made sure to catch her working hard in her booth this time.

Next corner brings us to Basic Grey …

Great ladies and talented too! They smile like that all the time. Wonder what they’re thinking??

Then we have Pat Sloan …

She is also new to the Moda design team and it seems to be the perfect fit! Go Pat!

Kari Meng and French General is next. No photo. She slipped out before I could catch her.

Next on the tour is Kathy Schmitz …

We were all very jealous of Kathy because she lives in the Portland area and got to go home to her own bed every night. I kept my promise and got a cute picture of her this time.

On to Deb Strain and Salt Box Designs …

Deb hands down wins the Miss Congeniality contest every market! I think she would look good in Vanessa’s skirt too!

Then Jan Patek …

Jan is another one of the original Moda designers and just a hoot to be around. She made a quilt especially for her good friend Sandy Gervais this year.

Next the darling Camille and Thimbleblossoms …

She had her cute husband helping in the booth this year. I’m sure pattern sales are way up this season. She also gave us Instagram lessons. Thanks Camille! I know there was a huge learning curve for some of us.

On the next corner is Joanna and Fig Tree Quilts …

Joanna usually has her wonderful husband Eric helping her every market. What a nice guy! They make such a cute couple.

And the last booth around the Moda square is  …

Bridgett and her husband Martin from Zen Chic. Looks like Camile and her husband are having a good visit. Martin rents a car every time they come to a quilt market and always manages to park it someplace where he can’t find it again. Maybe that’s why they have that bike parked nearby??

That’s it for Moda Roll Call Portland.

We really do have a great bunch of designer/friends!

See you in Houston and someone please remind me to get a picture of Mary and I in our booth!

Vanessa, wearer of that skirt, mentioned y’alls post in her blog as the best on Portland Market so had to run over and see what I’d missed! So enjoy y’alls fabrics, love y’alls book (oh and congrats, saw y’all released another! yay!), and sure do appreciate the playfulness, joy and delight in good friends and family and pets and… that y’all bring! What a great post. Vanessa was right on!!
