Quilts On The Way!

I put two boxes full of quilts in the mail this week.

Because Mary and I have another book coming out next fall!
More details to follow in the coming months, but just thought I would give you a little teaser …

The book will have 12 projects and is at the present time unnamed.

Martingale will publish it in the Fall in 2013!
I love a good tease!

I’m A Junk TV Junkie!

There I said it!
It is not something that I am especially proud of … but it’s the truth.
I LOVE reality TV!

The television is on most of the day in the background while I work. I goes on shortly after I get up at 6AM and continues throughout the day and into the evening.

My newest favorite is Duck Dynasty. It’s an adorable show! The funny thing is they are literate and don’t curse #$@*! Who would have ever thought that a show that shows some old fashioned family values would be a hit! Last season was great and the new season will be starting soon.

To celebrate I have pre ordered this cute Willy Chia Pet …

I will keep you updated on the progress of my beard as soon as it arrives (November) and I can get it growing!

Some of my other favorites are Survivor, Project Runway, Ghost Hunters, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, Auction Hunters, Top Chef, America’s Next Top Model, Mudcats, Mountain Men, Face Off, Inked, Design Star, Food Network Star, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Toddlers and Tiaras and an occasional Dog the Bounty Hunter (when there is nothing else GOOD on) … to name just a few! I had better stop before I embarrass myself further.

Oh! I also watch lots of Law and Order … all of them and Dancing With The Stars has started again!

Man I sound like such a looser!

Find a marathon and start watching today!

Happy happy happy … Barb

Daybreak Pattern!

The last of our 4 new patterns to feature …

Is Daybreak!
Have you noticed the new trend in quilting … simple geometric quilts?
Well I have and LOVE it!
This pattern includes instructions for both projects.

Daybreak 2 is shown in the corner and Daybreak 1 is on the right.

This newest quilting trend is great and I hope it stays around forever. I like showcasing fabrics to make a quilt interesting!

Happy Quilting!

Meet The Girls From Safford …

Mary and I got the sweetest email the other day from a local quilter who has 4 very special high school girls in her life …

They all live in Safford, a small farming community not far from the Arizona and New Mexico border. Mom, Brenda and her husband are cotton farmers! Yes … they grow the stuff that eventually ends up in our fabric stashes!

Brenda is the proud owner of 8 sewing machines and 2 daughters, Katy is a high school senior and Hannah is in the 8th grade.

She also used to own a lot of Me and My Sister fabric scraps until she got busy making string quilts for the girls.

Brenda sews most nights and says that it helps her unwind at the end of the day. She started taking quilting classes about 4 years ago with a friend and one of her daughters former teachers. Quilting is her therapy … I think we all understand that a bit!

The girls are all best friends and help each other through the drama of high school. They are all good students and at a recent BBQ for the girls and their families, Brenda surprised them each with a quilt and a personalized pillowcase. They often have sleepovers so this was the perfect gift!

That’s Brenda’s daughter Katy on the far right in the plaid shirt. Mom says she came into the world smiling and raring to go!

Nia is on the far left in the purple. She was in Katy’s pre school class and they have been friends since they were 3 years old!

Next is Willow, the redhead, who just happens to be Katy’s cousin. I guess that means they have known each other their whole lives.

Monique is in the middle and was a transplant from Mesa, Arizona a few years ago. She is in the Safford High School orchestra along with Katy and Emily.

Emily is the blonde. She and Katy met in 7th grade and are involved in many activities together.

The fab 5 and their quilts!

Since they live in a small rural community they rely on each other for support and entertainment.

Quilting is a GOOD thing!

Hugs to Brenda and the girls … Barb

Roxanne & Missy Zippy Bags!

Well the new “Good Morning” fabrics are shipping very soon and I still haven’t finished telling you about the new patterns!

I had better make this quick and combine the bags!
The first one is Roxanne …

She’s got a cute little shape and is the perfect size for taking along a small sewing project. I just LOVE big chunky rickrack and couldn’t resist sewing some around the cuff. She is also a great size for kid supplies in the car!

The second is Missy Zippy …

She has zipper trim around the outer bag and a fun ruffle around the top. Mary thought of the cute handle that is made by sewing two strips of zipper trim side to side! I think I’ll keep her around!

Fabric shipping very soon!

Thanks for hopping with us!

I had so much fun reading your comments and visiting with you all over the world! It was fun learning a few things about where the other designers live too.
So without further delay …

The winners are …

1 ~ The Fat Quarter bundle and T shirt goes to … Melanee!

I am in Fort Collins, CO — a very outdoorsy town known for all the biking and hiking etc. It is really beautiful here — dry, but with lots of trees. Your designs are gorgeous.

2 ~ The Jelly Roll and T shirt goes to … Diane!

I live near Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes plus one really big one!  Lake Superior is the largest body of fresh water in the world.  Thanks for the giveaway!

I live in the state of Michigan, almost on the Indiana border.  We get 4 beautiful seasons, live in the fruit belt, and are within an hour’s drive from beautiful Lake Michigan.
